Class History

FRESHMAN YEAR  1962-1963

In the fall of 1962 we started the school  year with 124 students.  We were the last class to be

ninth graders in what is now the Administration Building.  We elected Pam Walker as our President,

whose rule was very strong.  Our Vice-President, Dennis Anderson, who stood in when Pam wasn’t

there, was a real cool guy.

Kris King was our Secretary and Wanda Sutherland was payer of our bills and collector of our

dues.

This was our first year to build a float.  Our theme was “Blast Off For Victory.”  We displayed a

rocket on a launching pad, surrounded by pretty girls:  Nancy Forys, Bertha Knox, Phyllis Noyes and Sally

Locklin.  We were all proud of our third place win.

Brenda Ross represented our class on the Queen’s Court.  She was escorted to the dance by Bob

Wells.

New members of the Class of ’66 were Jeff Vauter and Darlene Teets.

SOPHOMORE YEAR  1963-1964

September 1963 was our first year in the new Senior High School.  For this year we elected Janie

Hack as our President and Karen Gallagher as our Vice-President.  Carol Ritter was our chosen Secretary

and Ruth Miles Treasurer.  Our first project for this year was our float which was a big mixer with the

theme “Beat ‘Em.”  We were proud of this because it won second place.  Representative for this year on

the Queen’s Court was Donna Hebberd, who was escorted to the dance by Dick Fitch.

We sold name pins and candy for money-making projects; we also held two car washes.

Plans were made for a class party which was to be entitled “Kiddies Capers”, with Oldie but Goodie records, but due to unforeseen difficulties was cancelled.

We also planned a talent show to display local talent.  No talent, no show.

JUNIOR YEAR  1964-1965

We started off our Junior year by electing Richard Pollard as our President and Cheryl Costello as

Vice-President.  Our secretary for this year was Marianne LaValley and our treasurer was Donna Hebberd.

Our float for this year was a large telephone, titled “Dial V for Victory.”  Of course, nothing but

the best for the Class of ’66 as we won 1st prize.

Kris King represented our class on the Queen’s Court.  Kris was escorted to the dance by Bob Wells.

On November 7th we held a Sadie Hawkins dance which was a big success.  Prizes were given to

the people dressed best for the occasion.  The prizes were won by Betty Lamphier and Wanda

Sutherland.  Members of the Class of ’66 no doubt.

For money-making projects this year we sold Bronco cushions and sweatshirts.

Karen Gallagher, Carol Ritter and Dave Mitchell were our Student Council representatives.

On February 14th, we held a Valentine’s Day dance which was called “Cupid’s Paradise.”

In May we put on the Jr-Sr prom with the theme “A Night To Remember.”  The cafeteria was

beautifully decorated with a garden scene with a waterfall and patio setting.

A new member to our class was Jo Ann James.

SENIOR YEAR  1965-1966

We started school August 31, 1965.  This year we are the great Seniors!  We elected as our ruler

of the class Dave Mitchell, who has done an outstanding job.  Vice-President is Sue Misener, better

known as Mouse.  The girl who takes notes at all our class meetings is Darlene Teets and holds a very

important job in our class.  Nancy Forys is our Treasurer; she is always running around trying to find Mr.

Hunter to ask him about a bill.  Bob Wells is our Co-Treasurer and takes care of all our class dues.

Our sponsors are Mrs. Bugg, Mr. Hunter, Mr. Potter and Miss Ferris.

Our float for this year was a large Roulette Wheel with the theme “Betting On The Broncos”

which MUCH TO OUR SURPRISE, didn’t even place.  Representatives of our class for the Queen’s Court

were Sherry Smith, Carol Ritter and Donna Hebberd.  When the final day came, Donna Hebberd was

elected for the 1965-66 Homecoming Queen.  She was escorted to the dance by Clare Howard.

In October we started our annual magazine sale.  Everyone worked hard to make it the success

it was.  Sally Locklin, who sold $130 worth, was the first place winner and won a radio.  Sherry Smith,

who sold $104 worth, was the second place winner and won a hairdryer.  Janet Patrick sold $86 worth

and was our third place winner and she won an alarm clock.

On November 19th we ordered our announcements

Chosen for our D.A.R. Good Citizen was Carol Ritter.
